WHAT IS GOING ON?
An Update. September 5, 2023

So, I have been a bit silent over here. That is for a few reasons. The first is that we are still waiting on the EEOC to make a determination from the information that both sides have submitted. We knew going into this that they were very backed-up with cases and that there would be a delay. My attorney filed my rebuttal to TNC’s Position Statement and Exhibits in support thereof on 4/12/23. When we hadn't heard anything back by late August, we checked in and found that essentially my case had fallen through the cracks. The EEOC representative assured us that a determination would be made within a few weeks. So, we wait. Now, because of the time that has lapsed, my attorney could request a right to sue letter. But I want them to review the documentation and information. If they find that there is some merit, then they will make a determination and issue us a right to sue and that is when it becomes federal. Filing a federal case is extremely expensive and many organizations will push it there because they know it's a financial burden. There are some that would rather risk it than to do right.
They cannot save us.
Anyway, that is where we are with the process. On another note, you have probably heard that we had a fire here at the farm. It has been a tremendous learning experience and very trying, I will admit. I have been on the SANITEA heavy lately (Add some passionflower at night so I can sleep goooooood). Things are moving forward though, and that is what matters. And our plants are happy.
Speaking of happy plants, that is another reason I haven't provided an update. I am outside! All hands on deck so between harvesting and packing orders, time has been tight.
However, I did want to give this update as your support in this has been invaluable. Should this go federal, I do have access to some national support as I will have to have a public fundraising campaign. However, no support is more valuable than that from those who are with me at the grassroots level. I am forever grateful.
Stay accountable,
Cee
