Overview

Purple Dead Nettle (Lamium purpureum) is a nutrient-dense, early spring botanical traditionally used in Western herbalism to support seasonal transitions and overall wellness. Often one of the first plants to emerge at the turn of the season, it is known for its resilience and gentle supportive properties. Rich in beneficial plant compounds such as flavonoids and polyphenols, purple dead nettle has been historically valued as a nourishing herb that supports the body’s natural rhythms.

Why We Love It

We love purple dead nettle because it reminds us that some of the most supportive plants are the ones that show up without being planted. It is an abundant, generous herb that offers itself freely and still delivers nourishment, balance, and beauty. As a wildcrafted botanical, it reflects our commitment to working with the land, not against it. It is especially appreciated in teas, infused oils, and everyday herbal preparations that support gentle, consistent care.

How to Use

🫖 Tea: Steep 1–2 tsp of dried purple dead nettle in hot water for 10–15 minutes. Enjoy on its own or blended with other herbs.🍃 Infusion: Combine with herbs like red clover, lemon balm, or nettles to create nourishing seasonal blends.💧 Skin Care: Infuse in oil or use as a cooled tea rinse as part of your herbal body care routine.

Note of Care:

Purple dead nettle is generally considered a gentle herb, but it may not be suitable for everyone. Use caution if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless advised by a healthcare provider. Individuals with plant sensitivities or allergies should use with care. As with any herbal product, consult your healthcare provider before use if you have a medical condition or are taking medications.

I always love the way Farmer Cee's herbs look and taste. The scent is like waking up on a fresh, spring Southern morning. The taste is earthy but well balanced and floral. Reminds of a delicious warm greens salad. Pairs well with any tea with lemon or any other floral herbal teas. So tasty!
