Catnip

Growing up, we used to always call Catnip (Nepeta cataria) cat weed" because of how it would make the cats act. The plant produces a chemical that activates their opioid reward systems and essentially gets cats high for about 10 mins or so. But it is also a great herb in expanding wellbeing for humans, too. Did you know that traditionally, the plant has been used to treat intestinal cramps, for indigestion, to induce and encourage sweating, to induce menstruation, as a sedative, and to increase appetite?  Catnip tea is  used to provide relief for those seeking restful sleep and help with anxious feelings. While we focus on the aerial parts (leaves and flowers), the roots are also used although they act more as a stimulant. We are playing around with them for another energizing blend so stay tuned.
